Caroline received her Bachelor of Science Degree from The Ohio State University and her Master of Science degree from the University of Mississippi. She and her husband, Dan, relocated to Memphis in 1994 to complete their educations. Caroline commuted to Ole Miss while Dan completed his residency in orthodontic education at UT Memphis. Caroline's first job was at Baptist Hospital Memphis where she worked in all aspects of audiology, including balance testing, pediatric testing, and surgical monitoring for acoustic neuroma procedures. Caroline and Dan moved to Jackson, TN in 1997. Caroline began working for Children's Special Services providing audiological testing and hearing aid services for over 500 children in West Tennessee, as well as working at Jackson Clinic and West Tennessee ENT Clinic on a PRN basis. In 2008 she began working for the West Tennessee Hearing and Speech Center (WTHSC). At WTHSC she tests all populations but has a passion for fitting adults with the proper amplification and assistive devices as well as counseling their families on effective communication. Caroline loves new technology and has first-hand knowledge of the importance of assistive devices, such as TV streamers, remote microphones for family members, and amplified phones, due to her mother being born with hearing impairment. Whenever asked why she appears to enjoy her job so much, so always responds with the same answer, "How many people are blessed with a job that allows them to transform a life in an hour or two!"
When Caroline is not at work she enjoys reading, golf, playing with her Boston Terriers, Vinny and Ford, and watching sports, particularly the OSU Buckeyes, Memphis Grizzlies, and Tennessee Titans. She has two sons in college, one attending UT Memphis Dental School, the other studying mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois. The family loves to get together as often as possible to relax by the pool or to spend the weekend in Memphis enjoying all the good downtown restaurants, live music, and to catch a Grizzlies or Redbirds game or two.
Kayla is the Hearing Instrument Specialist at the Center. She has been working in our Audiology department for 8 years and employed at the Center for over 10 years. Kayla enjoys learning the new advancements that are being implemented in hearing aids and passing those on to our patients. One of her favorite things about her position is being able to bring quality of life back to someone who has become isolated because they aren’t able to communicate properly due to their hearing loss. When Kayla is not hard at work helping our hearing impaired population, she enjoys spending her time at home with her husband and daughter. Her hobbies include crafting, home projects, reading, anything University of Tennessee Football and Basketball related and just being outdoors.
